The Makings Of An Engineer

Megan | future mechanical engineer

My name is Megan, I moved to the United States and I want to go to university to become a Mechanical Engineer, that is my American Dream. I would love to be an engineer because I want to invent new technology. Inventing new things would help the world become a better and greener place. I have wonderful ideas for things I could invent. I would like to make robots and hydropower boats. During my free time I like to help my Dad design and build things, this year we have built a garden shed and a robot kit that followed a black line. My two favorite subjects are math and science, and I'm an honor roll student. I work hard with my spelling as I have dyslexia but this won't stop me from reaching my dream.

I would have to attend an ABET accredited university and I would like to go to the University of Texas at Austin as it is one of the best universities in the world for engineering. To be a professional engineer I'll have to go to university for at lest 4 years, and obtain a Bachelors degree. While in high-school, I will go to my community collage and take some extra classes to help me reach my goal of becoming an engineer, I intend to take additional mathematics and science classes.

The salary for a mechanical engineering is $82,100 and has a green outlook. In Texas the opportunities are average but in our country they are below average for mechanical engineering. To learn about my career outlook I went to "My Next Move". Winning this scholarship would go along way to help me achieve my dream.
