FCC’s Broadband Data Collection
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is working to fully implement its Broadband Data Collection program. Once complete, the FCC’s broadband maps will show – on a house-by-house, location-by-location basis – where broadband internet access service is available. The FCC will standardize location data through broadband serviceable location fabric, a common dataset of all structures in the United States where mass-market, fixed broadband internet access service can be installed. The FCC has stated the new maps will be completed in the summer of 2022.

BroadbandUSA Data & Mapping
The BroadbandUSA program, housed within the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), serves state, local, and tribal governments, industry, and nonprofits that seek to expand broadband connectivity and promote digital inclusion.
Texas State Library and Archives Commission Free Wi-Fi Map
This interactive mapping tool provides the geographic locations of public Wi-Fi hotspots in Texas and allows users to submit available locations of public Wi-Fi. These hotspots can be used for remote learning, telehealth visits, remote work and virtual court appearances during the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a joint project of the Texas RioGrande Legal Aid, Texas Legal Services Center – TexasLawHelp and Texas State Library and Archives Commission.
Comptroller’s Office GIS Maps
One of the Texas Broadband Development Office’s mandates is to create a broadband availability map indicating eligible vs. ineligible areas for financial assistance. When complete, this map will include a challenge process to dispute inaccuracies. Estimated completion: January 2023.
