Report Unclaimed Property

Unclaimed property reports must be reported electronically. Send your report using either of these methods.

Secure File Transfer

The National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators (NAUPA) has created a standardized format for unclaimed property reports.

You can use our Unclaimed Property Reporting Software (UPRS) or any third party software that can generate the NAUPA II format.

Use this portal to submit a standard NAUPA II formatted file.

Download UPRS Software

This free software is only available for Windows. Minimum memory requirements are 64 MB RAM and 60 MB of hard drive space.

The software should be installed locally, not on a network.

  1. Download version 6.0 (EXE, 23.4M) of the software to your local disk (C:) drive, or run the installer directly from comptroller.texas.gov.
  2. Close all Windows applications before installing the software.
  3. Once the download is complete, double-click on the installer (UPRS_60.exe) and follow the screen prompts to complete the installation.
  4. Do not alter the destination path for the components of the software during this process.

The data from reports in version 5.3 will automatically migrate to the new version.

If you are using a previous 4 version, your data will not migrate into the 6.0 version. You must install version 5.3 first and launch it to start the migration. After this migration you can download version 6.0 to complete the process.

Due Dates

Reports for most holders are due between March 2 and July 1 each year, and must include the abandoned property. The state does not have the statutory authority to grant extensions on the report or payment submissions.
