Our Next Inductee

Nathan – future sports announcer

Our next inductee into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame is...Nathan Felts! See, I want to be a sports announcer, but not just any sports announcer. I want to be the best!

Like other NFL sports announcers, I will have to work my way up. From local football games, to college, to the NFL. Many sports announcers have covered other sports before getting to the NFL. Did you know there is even one who has called the Super Bowl, World Series, NBA Finals and the Stanley Cup games? That is amazing!

Being a sports announcer takes talent and determination. I became interested in being a sports announcer from watching my dad. He is an announcer for a high school football team. I work with him to learn how to call the games. I also watch football, practice calling games, and read about sports announcers to help me learn more. Even though I have learned the field will decline, I will still pursue my dream to be the best sports announcer in the future.

Getting experience is a must. I will go from helping my dad to announcing with him. This will allow me to begin to practice announcing live games. My theatre arts classes will help me communicate with my audience effectively.

In addition to experience, knowing the rules of all sports is a must. You never know when opportunities will come. Rules are being changed each year. I must continue to study these to be on top of my game.

I will attend college and earn a degree in broadcasting, communications, or journalism. I want to succeed and show that I have talent, perseverance, and can be trusted to cover games professionally.
