The Butler / McDaniel Memorial Scholarship WILL OFFER a $1000 award to a student in Texas every year. All applicants are required to submit the following information:

If you have not graduated from high school: Submit a high school transcript and proof that you intend to attend college, which may include an acceptance letter, proof of enrollment, or a class schedule. If you have graduated from high school/are already attending college or graduate school: Submit proof that you attended a high school in one of the listed counties (such as a high school transcript), as well as proof that you are currently enrolled in college (college transcript, proof of enrollment, class schedule, etc.).

Applicants must submit a written essay of approximately 500 words answering the following question:

What makes your hometown special, and what did you learn from it that you carry with you always?

Make sure you meet all the criteria listed below before you spend time applying. An eligible applicant:

Has already graduated or will be graduating a high school in one of the following counties: Montgomery County, Walker County, Grimes County, Liberty County, San Jacinto County, or Waller County.

Must be a high school senior (in one of the counties listed above), a college undergraduate, or a graduate student enrolled at an institution within the United States.

Must maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or more.

Is at least 17 years of age.

Is a citizen or permanent resident of the United States.

We plan to select a winner by May 15. The winning student will receive a notifying email, and we will announce the winner on this webpage. Once a winner is selected, the award will be distributed directly to the student's college.
