The Comptroller’s office both collects state taxes and protects Texas’ fiscal integrity. The Comptroller also partners with businesses and assists law enforcement agencies and the state judicial system in upholding the state’s tax laws.
The Tobacco Enforcement Section enhances law enforcement’s efforts to prevent minors from purchasing tobacco products including e-cigarettes.
The Data Analysis and Transparency division publishes an annual report listing sheriffs’ and constables’ fees for services rendered, as set by their respective county commissioners courts.
The Judiciary Section coordinates the payment of salaries and expenses for all state district judges, district attorneys and other Texas prosecutors.
The Criminal Investigation Division enforces Texas tax laws by detecting and investigating felony and misdemeanor tax and tax-related crimes and publicizing its cases.
In 2015, the Texas Legislature passed House Bill 855, which requires state agencies to publish a list of the three most commonly used Web browsers on their websites. The Texas Comptroller’s most commonly used Web browsers are Google Chrome, Microsoft Internet Explorer and Apple Safari.
