Entrance Test Dates and Fees

NOTE: College Board recognizes the impact that COVID-19 may have had on students and their family economic situation. School counselors are encouraged to use their best professional judgment in identifying eligible students for SAT fee waivers. If you are unsure if you qualify or face financial difficulties due to COVID-19, please discuss your situation with your school counselor to help determine whether or not you qualify. Learn more about fee waivers at www.SAT.org/feewaivers.

Most colleges require either the SAT® or ACT entrance exam. However, out of an abundance of caution due to the coronavirus pandemic, many students have not been able to take their exams as scheduled, or have chosen not to test for personal reasons. Therefore, many colleges and universities are offering a Test-Optional Policy for the 2020-2021 academic school year. Check your school website for the most current updates concerning entrance exams and their Test Optional Policy.

Online registration is still ongoing for both SAT® - www.collegeboard.com; and ACT - www.actstudent.org. Paper registration forms may be secured for either test from your school counselor. NOTE: There are two separate late deadlines. One applies only to mailed registrations and the other applies to requesting changes and to online or phone registrations.

ACT Assessment Test

Some institutions in Texas award academic credit and advanced placement based on a student's performance on the ACT Assessment.

Both advanced placement and academic credit may be awarded to students based on their scores on three of the four ACT Assessment curricular areas: English, Mathematics, or Science. This is the same examination utilized in the admissions process. Depending upon the college or university, requirements of minimum scores, number of credit hours granted and other conditions may vary. Register at www.act.org.
