What are SMRs?

Small modular reactors (SMRs) are advanced nuclear reactors that:

  • Generate up to 300 megawatts (MW) per unit — about one-third of traditional nuclear reactors.
  • Are physically compact and factory assembled.
  • Use nuclear fission to produce clean energy.
