AGENCY PROGRESS REPORT

Utility and water use have been reduced immensely with the agency's hybrid work schedule, where employees are in office three days and remote two days per week.

EMPLOYEE AWARENESS PLAN

To support ongoing energy efficiency efforts at Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs, the agency continues to partner with the Texas Facilities Commission to identify and implement cost-saving measures where applicable, including improvements to HVAC performance and water usage. Over the past year, we have encouraged conservation practices such as reducing paper waste, recycling and turning off lights, computers and office equipment when not in use. We also continue to ensure that heating and air conditioning vents remain unobstructed and that any water leaks or maintenance concerns are reported promptly. These practices help reduce overall energy consumption and support responsible use of state resources.

Install monitor power-management software. U.S. companies waste more than $1 billion annually on electricity for computer monitors that are not in use. Install power-management software for computer monitors, central processing units (CPUs) and hard drives to save on electricity costs.
