National Work Plans

National Listing Work Plan

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has published the National Listing Work Plan for candidate and petitioned species. This document provides an outline of upcoming species listing decisions through 2023. Decisions will be published in the Federal Register.

National Downlisting and Delisting Work Plan

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has published the National Downlisting and Delisting Work Plan. This document provides a timeline for downlisting/delisting decisions through 2020. Downlisting a species changes its classification from endangered to threatened. This action marks an improvement in its status. Delisting removes a species from the list. This action can be due to recovery or a very high likelihood that the species is extinct.
