Transmittal Letter

April 15, 2008

The Honorable Rick Perry, Governor
The Honorable David Dewhurst, Lieutenant Governor
The Honorable Thomas R. Craddick, Speaker of the House
Members of the Legislative Budget Board

Ladies and Gentlemen:

We are pleased to announce the publication of Texas State Expenditures by County 2007. Each year, our office reports the state’s expenditures by county for the previous fiscal year. This report continues the series started in 1991 by House Bill 1, 76th Legislature, Regular Session, Article IX.

Texas State Expenditures by County 2007 shows where state dollars are spent. It lists state expenditures by agency and type of expenditure in each county and for the 24 council of governments regions. The report’s introduction explains the estimation method and lists the major categories of expenditures.

This report was created using information from the state’s Uniform Statewide Accounting System. It reflects actual net expenditures of funds from accounts held in the State Treasury during the state’s 2007 fiscal year, Sept. 1, 2006 through Aug. 31, 2007. For certain expenditures, the Comptroller’s office used information provided by individual state agencies to estimate their distribution to the counties.

For additional copies of this report, please call 800-531-5441, ext. 6-5855, or direct in Austin at 512-936-5855. You may also access the report online at Expenditures by County.

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Sincerely,

Susan Combs
