What I Want to Be

Indu | future doctor

When I grow up, I'd like to be a medical doctor because I think science is fun and interesting to handle.

To become a doctor, I need 2 main degrees, a bachelor's and a medical degree. In order to get those degrees, I would have to be strong in English, Math, and particularly Science. Biology is the main field in science that I'd have to do well in. Biochemistry, Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, Psychology, Microbiology, Pathology, Medical Ethnics, and Medicine studies are all examples of the specific parts of science I have to excel in. I would learn all of this in medical school. There are about 146 medical schools in the United States, and 126 of them teach allopathic medicine. The other 20 teach osteopathic medicine. I would have to stay in medical school for 4 years, the first 2 years I would work in laboratories and medical classrooms, and the last 2 years I would work on patients under careful supervision. After being a medical school graduate for 1-7 years, I would have to pass a licensing examination for I need a license to start my own practice. When I'm ready for my license, I would have an interview to know my personality, character, achievements, and qualities. The reason that's important is because patients need good doctors who have a good reputation otherwise they don't feel very comfortable. All of these steps are required to become a good medical doctor.

These are all the steps and why I want to become a doctor. Being a doctor not only helps people, but serves the community to live healthier lives!
