Grant's X-Ray Career

Grant – future radiologic technologist

After my college education I hope to become a radiologic technologist, better known as an x-ray tech. I want to become an x-ray tech because my dad is a x-ray tech and I enjoy listening to his stories of how he helps other people. I even got to see my grandfather get x-rayed before his knee replacement surgery last year.

In order for me to become an x-ray tech in Texas I 1st must graduate from college with an undergraduate degree and then complete 2 years of x-ray school. Most x-ray techs get their education by attending programs in hospitals but some go through actually college universities as well. There are many opportunities to become an x-ray tech in the United States. I could work in a clinic like my dad, a surgery center, or a hospital. I could even explore the world as a traveling tech if I wanted! The opportunities are almost endless.

I have talked to my dad about his job and he has allowed me to go and observe him working at his clinic. I find what he does very interesting. I like the fact that I could have the opportunity to help people every day throughout my career as a x-ray tech. I would also get to meet new and interesting people all the time.

I think my future looks bright and I'm excited to make the world a better place by helping others in need.
