The Job of My Dreams

Kaylee – future marine biologist

My dream job would be a marine biologist. This career choice interests me because I love the ocean, and it will be ruined if we don’t protect it. If I become a marine biologist, I want to focus mainly on sharks. Sharks are my favorite animal and they need help. They are so smart and graceful!

About 100 million sharks are killed for seafood and the number of sharks is rapidly declining. Most people would be happy that sharks are dying, but without them our oceans would become full of sick and dead fish. The fish we eat would become diseased and make people ill. We need to save the sharks, and I want to spend my career helping them and learning more about them.

If I were to become a marine biologist, I would need a bachelor’s degree, which requires four years of school. A master’s degree would take an additional two to three years to achieve.

The most popular professions after receiving a master’s degree are in zoology, fisheries, oceanography, biology and marine biology.

I’m Kaylee, and I want to be a marine biologist. It will take time, but I know that if I work hard, I’ll be able to accomplish anything. That is my dream.
