The Opioid Abatement Fund Council (OAFC) seeks to empower local organizations to address the opioid crisis at its roots through the 2025 Short-term Community-based Opioid Recovery Effort (CORE) grant opportunity. The CORE grant funding is directly broken out and allocated among the 20 Regional Healthcare Partnership (RHP) regions for projects meeting the criteria for council-approved strategies in the following categories: treatment and coordination of care; prevention and public safety; recovery support services; and workforce development and training. The funds are one-time awards for projects less than a year and the maximum grant award is $250,000 or 20 percent of the total funds available in a region.
By providing funding in RHP regions, the Community-based Opioid Recovery Effort (CORE) grants support innovative, community-driven solutions that enhance prevention, treatment and recovery efforts, ultimately improving the lives of individuals and families affected by addiction across Texas.
On Sept. 8, 2025, the OAFC voted to award 2025 Short-term CORE grants to entities in each Regional Healthcare Partnership (RHP) region as listed on the dashboard below. At the time, the 109 Council awards totaled $21.2 million. As we fully execute the final grant agreements, and reimburse grantees, the dashboard will be updated accordingly.
