In response to the requirements of Senate Bill (SB) 1827, passed by the 87th Texas Legislature in 2021, the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts publishes statewide opioid settlement agreement records.
SB 1827 requires the state to maintain an Opioid Abatement Account and an Opioid Abatement Trust Fund related to opioid abatement settlements. The account and fund are used to manage payments received by the state from settlements against opioid manufacturers, distributors, or other parties subject to violation of state or federal laws on the manufacture, marketing, distribution, or sale of opioids.
Rule Making Project
During the June 8, 2023, meeting, the Council voted to adopt rules related to establishing grant processes and procedures to fairly and efficiently evaluate grant applications and distribute funds within the Opioid Abatement Trust Fund.
The adopted rules, including summaries of the comments received, were published in the Texas Secretary of State’s Texas Register on July 7, 2023 and became effective on July 10, 2023.
The adopted rules are located in 34 Texas Administrative Code Chapter 16, Subchapter C.
