The Opioid Abatement Fund Council (OAFC) aims to enhance opioid prevention efforts in Texas K-12 schools by awarding funds to provide tailored opioid prevention services and implement a comprehensive educational program. This program will develop and deliver age-appropriate curricula, provide teacher training and educate students about the risks of opioid misuse.
In January 2025, the Opioid Abatement Fund Council (OAFC) unanimously voted to award Texas A&M University Health Science Center a grant of up to $25 million to provide tailored opioid prevention services and implement a comprehensive educational program for Texas school children and their parents and caregivers.
