Port of Corpus Christi

Ports of entry within the state of Texas accounted for over $1 TRILLION in international trade in 2024. Texas has 32 OFFICIAL PORTS of entry that serve as critical gateways to global trade. Each port — whether an airport, land port or seaport — serves many domestic and international economic activities across multiple industries. Each Texas port plays a distinctive role in the state’s transportation network and contributes to the state and local economies.

About the Port of Corpus Christi

Port of Corpus Christi is one of 23 seaports along Texas’ 367-mile Gulf Coast. In 2024, the port accounted for 21 percent of all seaport trade through Texas, second only to Port Houston.

Port of Corpus Christi was established in 1926, primarily for the export of cotton. Today, the port serves as the largest energy export terminal in the U.S. and the third-largest exporter of crude oil in the world.

Trade activity at the port has increased considerably in recent years, from $15.1 billion in 2016 to $88.6 billion in 2024.

Mineral fuels account for most of the trade through the port, including 97 percent of the total exports and 80 percent of total imports in 2024.
