The AmeriCorps Segal Education Award is a post-service benefit earned by individuals who complete an approved term of national service in AmeriCorps programs. The award may be used to pay educational costs at eligible post-secondary educational institutions (includes many technical schools and GI-Bill approved programs), as well as to repay qualified student loans. The dollar amount of the education award is equal to the maximum amount of the Federal Pell Grant, and may vary from year to year. All education award payments made on your behalf are considered by the IRS to be taxable income. Interest payments made on your behalf are also considered taxable income.
