Federal Pell Grant

     This is a Grant and does not have to be repaid.  Awarded mostly to 
    undergraduates who have not earned a degree and who have exceptional 
    financial need.  Larger Pell Grants may be available to students who
    meet other requirements. Pell Grant lifetime eligibility is limited to 
    12 semesters or the equivalent.

    On December 29, 2022, the president signed the Consolidated 
    Appropriations Act 2023, which included a $500 increase to the maximum 
    Pell Grant.  The maximum Pell Grant award for the 2025-2026 award year
    is $7395, and the corresponding maximum Pell Grant eligible expected
    family contribution (EFC) is $6656.
