Grants are made from income only.

Continuing programs of the foundation require the greater part of annual distributable income. The remainder is granted in minimal amounts by the Board of Directors to a wide range of charitable or educational needs with special emphasis on projects in the field of higher education, and which projects are mainly student oriented.

In addition to funding its own continuing operating programs and bearing the expenses for operating other scholarship funds, etc., the Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation has minimal funds available for other grants.

No grants are made to institutions outside the State of Texas, or to organizations which discriminate on the grounds of race, color, creed, or sex. Grant requests will be considered only from organizations which have qualified for non-profit status by the Internal Revenue Service under the IRS code and applicable regulations. Requests must include a copy of organization&s IRS Tax Determination letter.

Save in the case of exceptional circumstances, the Board of Directors will not consider grant requests for building fund campaigns or endowments.
