    Competition is open to any young American who meets the basic
    eligibility requirements.  Unlike the other Service Academies, the
    Coast Guard Academy does not require a congressional nomination.

    Candidate requirements:
    Must be a U.S. citizen of sound moral character, unmarried with no 
    dependents or financial debt, 17-22 years of age by the last Monday
    in June, a high school graduate or G.E.D. recipient (or will be prior 
    to entry).  Standardized Test Scores (SAT/ACT) are required. 
    SAT Code is 5807.  ACT Code is 0600.  

    If medical exams are not completed by April 15, or if qualifications 
    are still uncertain by May 1, you may not be eligible for further
    consideration.

    Applications for appointment open July 15 and close January 15. 
    Early-Action deadline is October 15.   All materials and related
    documents must be received by January 15.
